UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE SHOW

The Undergraduate Degree Show at Bath Spa University was a large exhibition to where artists and creatives showed their final works at the end of their university degree. My work is a compilation of my works including my metalwork and ceramic sculptures from my final year at university. My piece Immobility stood in the centre of the room in order for the audience to walk around. Immobility:2 rested up against the window of the space, the separate rings spread out to represent my own body through size and layout, the second to last ring on the right lead down to show the challenge with my body.

I used the wall space in the exhibition to display my ceramic pieces, Ascend Series places on the wall like a climbing wall but with my own imprint on the work like a personal climbing wall. Leaving a Trace placed on a specially made metal shelf which sits at the height of my fingertips when stood next to the wall. Additionally, Height, sits on the floor in the corner of the exhibition space near the wall, the placement shows how the work was made, by rolling out the clay and dropping it on the studio floor, it then wasn't moved until dry enough not to change shape.

The Ceramic pieces are placed near each other so they can clearly relate to each other and be viewed together to paint a bigger picture of myself as the subject matter of the work.

Above the Leaving a Trace work I placed my Plan of Immobility which lined up with the Immobility piece in the centre of the room, this as well as the metal shelf for the ceramics helped to tie the works together with the ceramic and metalwork sculpture as one body of work.
